Leisa Nelson and her husband Rusty Nelson co-lead The Rock Family Worship Center in Huntsville, Alabama with multiple campuses in the Tennessee Valley. Twenty-four years ago, they planted The Rock Family; a multi-cultural church dedicated to seeing the Presence of God touch a city, and the world around them. The daughter of a pastor and a schoolteacher, Leisa has always had a passion for worship and to care for vulnerable children. Pastors Rusty and Leisa have four children: Adam (Lindsey) Nelson, Ashlynne (Spencer) Bell, Alex (Mariah) Nelson, and Annaleis. They have five grandchildren: Cruce, Roslyn, Cannon, Charlotte, and Grace.
Leisa is driven by speaking into the Kingdom identity of humanity, standing with the nation of Israel, and relentlessly acting on behalf of the voiceless. Her heart is burdened for those who don’t know who they are in Christ, and strives to lead individuals into the awakening of their true original design in HIM. She and Rusty are burdened for the salvation of the Jewish people, and for the peace of their homeland, Israel. Her ear is tuned into divinely inspired strategies, and her voice is strong to rally the people of Christ to stand up and change their world.
Her heart’s cry for over twenty-five years has been standing up for the unborn, and the ministry of adoption and foster care, both on a domestic and international level. Leisa oversees several areas of ministry including SHE Women’s Ministry and the church’s adoption, foster care, and orphan care partnerships in the city. She loves missions, and works in partnership with many local, state, national and international ministries serving the needs of children. She also serves on the Alabama Board of Lifeline Children’s Services. Leisa believes God has given her a mandate to promote widespread awareness of vulnerable children, to impart the importance of families opening their hearts and homes, and to encourage ‘The Church’ to take responsibility. She believes the heart of a nation must reflect the value God places on even the smallest of citizens.
